Greetings,
Can a SS2 have 3 Sbus Cards and TWO internal hard drives without overloading
the power supply? I could have sworn I've read this config is a no-no in a
installation guide somewhere.
If I can have TWO internal hard drives w/o overloading the power supply, can
anyone suggest a make/model of any internal drives that are larger than the
424Mb that came with the system? Are there any aftermarket internal drives
that reach 1Gb?
Thanks!
- Cliff

DEC make a 1.05Gb for the OEM market. The drive is the DSP-3105: 3 1/2 in,
1.05Gb formatted, 5400rpm, average seek 9.5ms.

I have not followed this thread from the beginning..
Maybe somebody has said this already:
We have a SS1, and its drives are really hot..
SS2 has an extra fan. I asked our Sun dealer about
putting a bigger disk/ changing the diskette drive
to a hard disk.. the answer was a NO.. the cooling
system cannot handle the thermal load, configuration
is therefore not supported.
I think this means you must careful if you have
a service contract, but not very much more.
