Hi,
the company I am working for is in the process of replacing VT-100 Terminals
with PC's running MS-Windows. These PC's are supposed to connect to a
central database server for displaying and changing data. For the GUI of
our application we are using the tool JAM from Jyacc (which is a great
interface builder for Windows, b.t.w.).
JAM is using the TCP/IP product from FTP Software to connect to the database
server. The problem is that this software costs around $ 400,- (DM 650,-) for
each workstation, which is far too expensive because it would be installed
on dozen's of PC's in a typical installation.
All we need really is a license to link our application to the TCP/IP
socket library, none of the tools in the package would be installed on
a workstation.
Does anybody know wether this kind of license is available from FTP
Software, or alternatively, is there any other TCP/IP package for Windows
which is compatible with the FTP Software package ?
To avoid traffic, please respond by e-mail, I will summarize if there is
any interest.
Thanks in advance, Ernst.

There used to a 'kernel' license and a full license with
the applications, don't know anymore because we dumped
our PC/TCP campus? license. For some reason they refused
to sell us the nonprotected 2.1 version, though we tried to
order one. We just got a bunch of numbered labels.. and the
protected 2.1.
